Montecristo Beach and Golf Resort's Newsletter
June 2010 |
| Dear Lori,
Welcome to the June issue of Montecristo Today - Montecristo's newsletter. The invierno or winter season in Nicaragua has officially begun. Although we won't be getting any snow, we do experience cooler temperatures - especially at night. Winter in Nicaragua is a nice break from the sunny skies of the summer months. Rain showers have helped turned the rolling hills of Montecristo green and the trees and flowers are blooming.
Don't forget to drop us a line on any topics or news you would like to read about in upcoming issues of Montecristo Today.
In this issue, we will bring you up to date on happenings in Nicaragua and the new homes coming up like flowers on the hills of Montecristo this winter. Enjoy! |

Nicaragua in your Living Room
A beach all your own in Cielos |
CBS announced that Nicaragua has been chosen as the next location for the filming of the television series "Survivor" due to the spectacular natural beauty of the country. The beaches on Nicaragua's southern Pacific coast will become the new scenario of one of TV's most successful shows during its 21st and 22nd seasons. The show will have a big impact on Nicaragua's tourism sector and its economy, generating approximately 200 jobs during the six-month period in which it will be produced. "The show marks the arrival of Nicaragua as the emerging tourism destination in the region. We have become a point of reference for vacation and retirement and we'll now gain international recognition as a shooting location too," said Javier Chamorro, Executive Director of ProNicaragua. "Survivor" also airs in 154 countries around the world, reaching an international audience of 100 million. The Survivor format has been adapted for numerous international versions of the show, including Italy's "Celebrity Island" and Spain's "Supervivientes", both of which were filmed in Nicaragua earlier this year. If you have a trip to Nicaragua planned within the next 6 months, we recommend making your reservations now since many hotel rooms and rental cars are being used by the "Survivor" crew. |

Keith & Angie Davis, Cumbres G-1
Angie and I began looking for our new home site a couple of years ago. We have been getting tired of the rat race and business as usual in the U.S. and wanted to slow down and enjoy life near a beach. After visiting several countries we took a long weekend to tour Nicaragua properties. We met Lori and Jorge and quickly fell in love with Montecristo. They made the decision very easy and not a week goes by we don't talk about how happy we are to have purchased. Our dream truly gets closer every month. We were recently married and have a seven year old daughter named Avery. Angie owns and operates a day care and preschool center and I own a corrugated packaging company. Our hope is to settle in and open a small business of some kind. Angie enjoys all outdoor activities including spending time on the lake and I am a Harley-Davidson enthusiast. Our next visit will be during the 2011 Fiesta and we hope to begin planning our home next year. We can't wait to meet our new neighbors. The Pogor Family, Casita Tucan in Costa Azul Vincent Pogor, along with son Michael and Linda Ball, hail from just outside Toronto, Canada. Michael and Linda also work together at a high school in Toronto, where Michael is a teacher and Linda is a sign language interpreter. We are looking forward to spending holidays on the beach in Montecristo, and exploring the beautiful country of Nicaragua (as well as playing golf!). Vincent, the retired patriarch, will be escaping some of the colder weather up north, as well as sharing the casita with his many children and grandchildren. We all look forward to meeting the other members of our new community! |
