Montecristo Golf Club

Montecristo Golf Club is the jewel of Costa Azul. It boasts a magnificent 18-hole championship course, the creation of Mike Young Designs. Known for paying special attention to preserving and enhancing the natural environment of the courses he designs, Mike Young was the perfect choice to take advantage of the breathtaking views and lush landscape of Costa Azul.

Young's design ensures that the 7,060-yard, par-71 course takes full advantage of its dramatic natural setting. The front nine winds along the relatively flat land between the river and the Pacific. The back nine rises into the mountains, with more than 300 feet of elevation change. The result is a course of spectacular views and unique challenges that will entice any golfer.

Montecristo Golf Club also offers a clubhouse and exclusive pro shop. In addition to the surrounding villas, townhomes and casitas of the Costa Azul community, luxury accommodations are available at the resort's exclusive boutique hotel.

Audubon Signature Status

Montecristo has registered with Audubon International as a partner working towards Audubon Signature status for the golf course and community. Audubon Signature Programs provide comprehensive environmental planning assistance to new developments. The programs help landowners and developers design for the environment so that both economic and environmental objectives are achieved. Once construction is complete, involvement in an Audubon Signature Program ensures that managers apply sustainable resource management practices in long-term stewardship of the property. This is an ongoing process that will dictate how the golf course and community operate after completion of construction.

Mike Young, our golf course architect, is a member of the Audubon International Golf Advisory Council. He said: “Presently we are in the Audubon Signature program working towards obtaining gold status at the opening of the project. This status is only awarded to courses/developments that begin the process before construction."
